The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Engineer – Building Services Maintenance to take day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of maintenance and small works contracts.

This is a key operational and leadership role within the management team, responsible for ensuring contracts are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably, while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Working closely with the Business Manager, you will manage operational resources, subcontractors, and technical delivery, while supporting commercial performance and continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operational delivery of building services maintenance contracts
  • Plan and manage operational programmes and resource levels to ensure continuity, efficiency, and best practice
  • Be financially accountable for assigned projects and contracts, supporting cost control and commercial performance
  • Manage and coordinate operational staff and subcontractors, ensuring works are clearly instructed, communicated, and delivered to standard
  • Produce, review, and sign off NICEIC certification and all required inspection and test documentation
  • Ensure inspection and testing results are accurately recorded and compliant with relevant standards
  • Prepare quotations and estimates, procure materials, and provide technical input into tenders and pricing activities
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and client visits to ensure quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction
  • Attend client meetings and actively manage performance against KPIs, including customer satisfaction, first-time fix, productivity, and financial targets
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients to support repeat business and long-term partnerships
  • Lead health & safety on contracts, ensuring all works are carried out safely and in compliance with company policies and safety rules
  • Ensure operational delivery complies fully with company procedures, statutory requirements, and industry standards
  • Support the Business Manager with additional duties as required to meet business objectives

Your Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Qualifying Supervisor for an NICEIC-approved company
  • Proven experience leading and managing operational teams and subcontractors
  • Strong technical knowledge of inspection, testing, verification, certification, and reporting procedures
  • Extensive understanding of electrical systems in domestic and commercial environments
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, emergency lighting, and fire alarm systems
  • In-depth knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations, current edition of BS7671, and relevant Codes of Practice and guidance
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proactive, structured approach with a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service
