6‑Month Contract | Scope to Extend | Freelance | HV Projects

We’re supporting a major infrastructure contractor delivering high‑voltage projects across South Wales. They’re looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to join on a freelance basis, working full‑time on site across the Cardiff–Swansea region. This is an initial 6‑month contract with strong potential to extend.

The role offers a 60/40 split between office and site, ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on delivery while staying close to design, QA, and project controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with design, engineering, and project management teams to deliver HV project scope and electrical requirements.
  • Support construction‑issue designs and provide weekly feedback to improve quality and buildability.
  • Lead subcontractor and site interface meetings to maintain performance and clarity of scope.
  • Manage material approval requests and ensure all works comply with approved specifications.
  • Take ownership of technical submittals during the construction phase.
  • Attend and coordinate FATs with the project team.
  • Conduct daily site inspections, resolve subcontractor issues, and ensure full H&S compliance.
  • Review installations against design specifications and construction documentation.
  • Raise, track, and close out QA/QC observations using platforms such as Procore or ACC.
  • Establish and manage ITPs in line with programme requirements.
  • Maintain the project MS Teams workspace, including weekly progress photo uploads.
  • Coordinate procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and services.

Essential Experience

  • Strong IT literacy and confidence using digital project platforms.
  • AIS experience (Air‑Insulated Switchgear).
  • DNO experience (working with Distribution Network Operators).
  • Experience managing and responding to RFIs.
  • Background in HV, utilities, or large‑scale electrical infrastructure. xwzovoh
