About the Role

Our client is an AI company based in Belfast that builds SaaS products using machine learning to analyse large volumes of unstructured text, such as customer and employee feedback. Their platform helps organisations understand human experience at scale and make better decisions based on how people actually feel.

They are expanding their engineering capability and are hiring an Engineering Team Lead to take ownership of a core delivery team while remaining technically engaged. This is a leadership-first role with continued technical influence in a product-led, engineering-driven environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and line-managing a team of around six engineers across full-stack and infrastructure or AI-focused workstreams.
  • Setting standards for engineering quality, delivery, and team culture.
  • Owning sprint planning, stand-ups, and agile ceremonies.
  • Championing agile best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Providing architectural oversight, code reviews, and technical direction rather than day-to-day coding.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to align engineering output with product and business priorities.

The role typically involves around 10 to 20 percent hands-on technical involvement, focused on oversight and decision-making.

Ideal Background

  • Senior full-stack engineering background with around 8 to 10 years’ experience.
  • Strong AWS development experience with a DevOps mindset.
  • Proven experience leading or managing engineers and taking accountability for delivery.
  • Fully committed to agile ways of working.
  • Technically curious, with exposure to AI-related systems or methodologies.

Nice to have:

  • SaaS product experience.
  • Startup or scale-up background.
  • Comfortable operating in a lean, hands-on environment when needed.

What You’ll Receive

  • Salary between £60,000 and £90,000, with flexibility up to £100,000 for the right candidate.
