Role purpose

As a Transactions Tax Director you will be responsible for leading our teams in providing the full range of tax due diligence and M&A structuring services to our clients. The role will involve covering both domestic and international clients, providing an opportunity for those with both UK and cross-border experience. We expect the right candidate to have significant experience in transactions taxes, with potential for leadership and strategy development. The role could also be a stepping stone to a future partnership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall delivery of complex tax due diligence assignments, including provision of corporation tax due diligence services to clients.
• Liaise with colleagues in VAT, employment taxes, and other specialist tax services, and co-ordinate with teams from other Mazars group countries to project manage the overall tax due diligence services.
• Collaborate with the transaction services team to go to market and win new combined financial and tax due diligence projects.
• Build client relationships through engagements and pursue opportunities identified during due diligence to support ongoing client needs.
• Lead the provision of tax advisory and structuring services, delivering complex tax advisory assignments; act as main day-to-day point of contact on a portfolio of M&A tax advisory work.
• Own the overall client relationship, scope assignments tailored to client needs, and coordinate with the deal advisory team for seamless service across tax and advisory offerings.
• Ensure advice is reflected in all transaction aspects and communicate with clients, lawyers, and advisers; collaborate across wider tax and advisory and consulting teams to identify opportunities and support go-to-market initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

• Holds relevant professional qualification such as ACA or CTA (or equivalent).
• Strong technical knowledge of key tax issues affecting companies and shareholders in transactions.
• Experience in transactions; strong project management skills with a track record of leading teams on complex assignments.
