The opportunity

You will be part of a highly structured, technically driven engineering environment, supporting airport automation projects from concept through to installation. The role suits an engineer who enjoys routine, precision, and working within clearly defined standards, while contributing to safe, compliant, and cost-effective mechanical designs.

Initially, the role will support operations at a major UK airport, with involvement in future regional airport bids and projects.

  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D AutoCAD designs and installation documentation
  • Coordinate layouts with customers, suppliers, and internal engineering disciplines
  • Carry out risk assessments and proactively mitigate design and project risks
  • Apply machinery safety standards to support operation and maintenance strategies
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with project budgets
  • Support site installation teams with clear, accurate documentation and technical input
  • Manage third-party equipment interfaces and integration
  • Protect project and business interests in dealings with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and personal development

About you

  • Degree or HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least 2 years’ experience within automated material handling or similar industrial systems
  • Strong understanding of engineering design standards, safety requirements, and risk assessment
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D AutoCAD, with exposure to Navisworks, Revit, or BIM considered advantageous
  • Familiar with building interfaces, steelwork, services, and mezzanine structures
  • Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Structured, methodical, and quality-focused approach to design and problem-solving
  • Flexible with working hours, travel, and project demands

What’s on offer

  • 28 days annual leave excluding public holidays
  • Private medical cover
  • YuLife wellbeing membership with fast access to GP services and lifestyle rewards
  • Pension scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee recognition and reward platform
  • Long-term career development within a technically advanced global engineering environment
